Thoughts on the Season: Management

The final piece regarding my thoughts on the 2019-2020 season will look at management. Since there were technically two GM's this past season. I'll take a look at both of them. Enjoy!

Mike Maccagnan: WOOF! This coffee addict GM acted like he knew everything, but really knew nothing. I won't dive into his previous seasons (maybe another blog), but will focus more on this past season. He had a ton of $ to play with & even though he made some solid signings (Bell, Crowder, Mosley, Poole) he definitely was pricing against himself (especially with Bell & Mosley). Also, he refused to address the OL once again & thought the line that we saw this past season would get the job done (I want to puke). When it came time for the draft, he went IDL once again. Anyone that knows a little about football knew he needed to trade down & try to get some more picks to build the team (especially on offense), but of course he instead went with the, "best overall player in the draft", like we haven't heard that one before. To continue his downward trend, he drafted an OLB that isn't even in the NFL anymore & a project RT. Thinking about Maccagnan's drafting makes me want to crack a cold one & I am writing this post at 3 in the afternoon (It's 5 o'clock somewhere, am I right?). Why was he allowed to buy the groceries this past off season when he eventually got fired? Well that's for a whole other discussion.

Joe Douglas: JD came into quite a mess. He did the best that he could, getting Ryan Kalil out of retirement (even though it didn't work, it showed what he wanted to do) & trading for Alex Lewis. He also wasn't afraid to cut anyone, even if they were just drafted (Lord Jachai Polite was such a horrific pick). In season, he all but fleeced the Giants with the Leo Williams trade, & that #68 is going to come in handy in two weeks. My only issue was that I think he knew that Robby Anderson wasn't going to be resigned this off season, so why not trade him at the deadline? Other than that, I think JD made the best out of a pretty dire situation. More on him in a future post. #TakeFlight
