Alright folks, let's just jump right in to this weeks edition of, "The Good, The Bad, &The Ugly"
How I feel about what I watched yesterday
The Good: Yesterday morning I was all about, "The power of positivity", so I tried to remain positive throughout the game. That did not last wrong, but it did help me find some good in this game.
1) Mekhi Becton: The second week in a row Becton has made this list. You did not hear too much about Becton's during yesterday's game, which is a good thing because that means he was doing his job in protecting Sam Darnold. However, if you catch some of the videos on Twitter, you see that Becton was tossing the 49ers defenders around like rag dolls. I believe he had 3-5 pancakes yesterday, & they are fun to watch! This is only his second career game, but so far, the future looks very promising for the young LT.
2) Quinnen Williams: FINALLY! Q showed why then dumb GM Mike Maccagnan took him 3rd overall in the '19 Draft. Williams was disruptive in the very first series causing a strip sack against Jimmy Garoppolo which he nearly recovered too. He added another sack in the 3rd quarter & was in the backfield for most of the game. He finished with a stat line of: 7 tackles, 4 TFL's, & 2 sacks. Quite the impressive day for the young fella, & hopefully it is a sign of things to come.
3) Braxton Berrios/ Chris Hogan: I am going to group these two together. Both were thrusted into major roles into this offense with Crowder & Mims out & with Breshad Perriman leaving the game with an ankle injury. Hogan had a rough go of it in the beginning with a drop, but he picked it up after that & had some pretty nice catches. Berrios worked mainly in the slot, but ran some solid routes & like Hogan, had some good catches. Berrios' TD at the end was a nice icing on the cake for easily his best statistical day in his career
*Side Note: My high school & Hogan's high school football teams are rivals. When we played them Hogan's senior year we won the game, ending a decade long losing streak to Hogan's high school. A good friend of mine did a very nice job locking him up that night, just saying. And if you're asking how I did that game.....well I had a nice view from the sideline the entire time.
The Bad: I really thought about putting the bad & the ugly section together, but I think these next few people don't need to be deemed ugly, just yet.
1) Marcus Maye: What a tale of two weeks. Last week Maye made it on "The Good" section & now here he is on the bad. Maye struggled all day in coverage, letting up two TD's to Jordan Reed. He seemed a step behind every play & just did not seem as explosive as he was last Sunday. Also, his tackling was extremely poor, but so was everyone else's on the defense.
2) Greg Van Roten: Not a good day for the veteran OG. GVR missed a ton of blocks, especially a crucial one on the 4th & 1 in the 2nd quarter. Throughout the game, he just continued to get beat off the ball & did nothing to help create space for he run game or to protect Darnold. Not a good first two weeks for GVR.
3) Chris Herndon: I was really excited about Herndon this season. After missing last season, I thought he'd have a chip on his shoulder to prove to everyone just how good he is. Well so far, he's done next to nothing. Yes he is being asked to stay in & block more, but when given the opportunities in the passing game, he's not taking advantage of it. His drop in the end zone was flat out ugly, it hit him right in the chest. Hopefully this is just a slow start for him & he can pick it up as the season progresses.
4) Joe Douglas: I've decided to put Douglas here. Remember, I am a BIG Joe Douglas fan, but I have to call him out when need be & right now, he needs to be called out over the WR situation. As stated in a previous post, Douglas needed to come out of the draft with more than 1 WR. Looking at the lack of protection from picks Jabari Zuniga, Lamical Perrine, James Morgan, & Cameron Clark so far makes it even more evident that one of those four selections should have been used on another WR. I do not want to hear that a rookie WR struggles right away in the NFL, anything would help right now.

The first play of the game led to Jets fan becoming enraged with the team
The Ugly: No explanations needed, let's get into it.
1) The Defense (Minus Q.Williams): What a PATHETIC performance by this unit. from the first play of the game they showed no life or heart. It was beyond frustrating watching this unit perform. Jimmy G. was hobbling around on one ankle & other than Q, no one could get to him to force pressure. Once again, Henry Anderson contributes nothing on the field & should probably spend more time on the sidelines. The LB's STUNK yesterday. Neville Hewitt is grossly overrated & there was a reason Alec Ogletree was a FA. With the secondary, they just can't cover anyone. Too many times they give up way to much space to the WR's & allow them to make an easy catch. How about pressing up on them or something?!!? I won't even get started on the 3rd & 31 play because I do not want to throw my computer against the wall. This falls on Gregg Williams. He made no adjustments yesterday & did nothing to fire up his defensive unit. This is typical Gregg Williams though, one year he's great, the other year he's not. Hence why he doesn't stick around teams too often. Hopefully this unit picks it up next week.
2) Adam Gase: Let's be honest, I do not think Gase will leave this section all year. Hopefully I do not have to write about him all year since he should be fired immediately, but if for some miracle he stays, he has a permanent spot here. Once again, this guy SUCKS. Easily the worst coach in the NFL without question. He coaches scared, & is way too conservative with his play calling. Remember everyone, he has a "brilliant" offense mind according to that buffoon Christopher Johnson. Can his offense be anymore vanilla? MIX IT UP YOU IDIOT! I'll be honest, I actually liked when he went for it on 4th down, showed some guts. But then the play call happened & I immediately had a fit of rage. Hey "Offensive Genius" here's an idea, instead of running the ball up the middle on 3rd/4th & 1 which a 2nd grader could have predicted, how about rolling Darnold out to give him the opportunity to throw or run for the 1st down or even a TD. Gase is a joke, a complete joke. Let's watch him give Frank Gore, who I really like, 21 carries while Perrine & Josh Adams get 4 combined. Or how about watching him call 5 yard pass plays for Darnold, SET UP A PLAY TO THROW IT DOWN FIELD! And of course after the game the excuses started. Injuries & the 49ers Defense were it this week. Good lord I cannot take this bum anymore. He needs to be fired!
3) Peyton Manning: You caused this Adam Gase hiring, I hate you.
Well after that vent, that's going to be another edition of, "The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly. Until next week Jets fans, & remember.......

FIRE THIS BUM! #TakeFlight
