IT'S DRAFT WEEK BABBBBBAY!

Here's my latest mock draft to get us ready for the real thing Thursday:

1st Round (11): Jedrick Wills-OT-Alabama

Analysis: Joe Douglas gets Franchise QB Sam Darnold the protection he desperately needs. Yes, many want a big play WR here like Jerry Jeudy or CeeDee Lamb & apart of me wants that to. But the old saying, "You can't buy the Porsche without the garage", comes into play here. A WR like Jeudy or Lamb would be great, but what good is it if Darnold has no time to get the ball? Wills is a day 1 starter & can protect Darnold for hopefully the next decade +

2nd Round (48): Denzel Mims-WR-Baylor

Analysis: After getting Darnold some protection, Joe Douglas now gets him a playmaker. I really like Mims & would be ecstatic if the Jets got him. He's a big WR who goes up & gets the ball. That would be a BIG help when the Jets get in the red zone. Mims can be a day 1 starter who makes a impact.

3rd Round (68): Michael Pittman Jr.-WR-USC

Analysis: Joe Douglas goes back to back picks getting Darnold playmakers. If you read my last mock draft or follow me on Twitter, you know how badly I want the Jets to draft Pittman Jr. He already has very strong chemistry, and like Mims can come in from day 1 & make an impact.

3rd Round (79): Darrell Taylor-OLB-Tennessee

Analysis: I've seen a few mock with Taylor being a pick for the Jets. I didn't know much about him at first, but after doing some research, I think he'd be a very nice fit in Gregg William's defense. Taylor is a powerful OLB who also has the ability to explode up the field. He may start out the season as a pass rush specialist, but I think he can eventually get the starting spot across from Jordan Jenkins.

4th Round (120): Jonah Jackson-OG-Ohio St.

Analysis: Joe Douglas goes back to getting Darnold protection. So far, Douglas has done a nice job rebuilding the interior of the line with the signings of Connor McGovern & Greg Van Routen. However, GVR is on a 1yr deal so getting Jackson here makes perfect sense. He would excel greatly in their zone blocking scheme & like the previous three picks can push to start from day 1.

5th Round (158): Ke'Shawn Vaughn-RB-Vanderbilt

Analysis: I've said it before, the chances of Le'Veon Bell being on the Jets roster next year is looking awfully slim. With that being said, the Jets start to get ready for post-Bell life with this selection. Vaughn is a one-cut RB, something I believe that Adam "Offensive Genius" Gase is looking for, for his offense. Vaughn is also a pass catcher out of the backfield which is always helpful for a QB.

6th Round (191): James Morgan-QB-Florida International

Analysis: Jets fans saw first hand last year how important it is to have a solid backup QB. With that said, current backup QB, David Fales, is NOT the answer. Quietly, the Jets have been doing plenty of interviews with potential Day 3 QB's. Morgan is a 6'4/229lb. strong arm QB who has spent time in college in a pro-style system. He has an aggressive mindset, something that can't be taught. He would serve as a nice backup for the Jets.

6th Round (211): Trajan Brandy-CB-Miami

Analysis: A two year starter at The U. What Brandy lacks in size (5'8/180lbs.), he makes up for it with his toughness. He can play both in the slot & out on the boundary. He's a nice CB project for Gregg Williams.

Overall Thoughts: Just like my previous mock draft, the Jets focus on the offensive side of the football. I personally think that this will be the theme of this draft, since the offense has been so badly neglected in the draft for the past decade (see my previous article). At the same time, my gut is telling me that Joe Douglas either trades down from #11 or #48 to gain more picks in round 3/4/5. Personally, I'm for this. The Jets need to build up this roster, so gaining more picks is a big help. Only 4 more days until the Jets are on the clock. As Bart Scott once said......

Can this be real??? Seriously. I would be speechless if we got Mims and Pittman after drafting Wills.
